GREEN SQUARE COMPLEX, NATURE RESEARCH CENTER, DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY & NATURAL RESOURCES OFFICE BUILDING AND THE PARKING GARAGE, Raleigh, North Carolina

Sustainable design consulting for a multi-use facility. Tasks for this ongoing project include sustainable design consulting, renewable energy analysis, daylight modeling and green material analysis for an anticipated LEED rating ranging from Gold to Platinum.

COLORADO HISTORY CENTER, Denver, Colorado

This 284,000 square foot, $74.6 million project is pursuing a LEED-NC Gold rating. Ambient Energy is performing a sustainable design charrette, daylight analysis and modeling, and LEED facilitation, as well as providing green materials recommendations.

Upon completion, the History Center will:

  • Protect or restore 50% of the project boundary to open space
  • Dedicate 20% of total building site to open space
  • Reduce plumbing water usage by 40%
  • Reduce irrigation water usage by 50%
  • Recycle 75% of construction waste
  • Recycled content in 20% of all materials purchased at minimum
  • Use of regional materials for 20% of all materials purchased at minimum
  • Use at least 50% FSC certified wood
  • Use low-emitting paints, sealants, and coatings
  • Adopt sustainable Owner & Maintenance policies so the building will run in an efficient and environmentally friendly way after construction

DENVER MUSEUM OF NATURE AND SCIENCE PHIPPS GALLERY, Denver, Colorado

The $8.62 million renovation of this 25,821 square foot gallery is pursuing a LEED for Commercial Interiors rating. The special challenges that go along with making a museum efficient and sustainable include making sure the humidification requirements are met while keeping the mechanical system efficient and keeping the lighting efficient while allowing adequate viewing of the exhibits.

    The museum is anticipated to:

  • Reduce potable water use through plumbing fixtures by 45%
  • Reduce 59% of lighting power
  • Divert 50% of the construction waste from the landfill
  • Reuse 53% of the existing gallery's materials
  • Purchase 10% of materials with recycled content
  • Purchase 10% of materials with regionally purchased products
  • Purchase 50% of wood products that are FSC certified
  • Take advantage of daylight harvesting in the gallery atrium
