ambient energy will work with your design team to identify and fine tune strategies for incorporating daylight into spaces and reducing the use of electric lighting. Daylight and views provide improved comfort and have a significant effect on a building’s ENERGY EFFICIENCY, as lighting typically accounts for 30% of a building's annual energy use. ambient energy will help produce daylighting that is comfortable to the building occupants, with light levels that are appropriate to the space, with minimal glare. ambient energy will evaluate LEED credits related to daylighting and views and submit appropriate documentation to the USGBC.
During Schematic Design, ambient energyworks with the design team and owner to establish goals for daylighting, determine potential daylighting features to incorporate in the building architecture, and create strategies to better control and reduce electric lighting.
During Design Development, ambient energy will analyze the performance of daylighting and architectural alternatives to fine tune the design and will provide recommendations for lighting controls. When done in conjunction with ENERGY EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS, the design team will have the data to optimize both daylighting and energy performance of items such as glazing performance, area, shading, and electric lights. For example, ambient energy demonstrated the use of AGI to plot footcandles and photorealistic renderings for a transit center in California, creating a daylit area that saved energy and money.
During Construction Documentation, ambient energy will submit documentation to the USGBC for associated LEED credits and review final design of lighting controls.
